How Much Does a Tanzania Safari Cost?

Safari prices vary widely, and a single "from" price rarely tells you what your own trip will cost. The total depends on a handful of factors, most of which you control.

The quickest way to a reliable number is to tell us your dates, group size and preferred accommodation level; we will send an itemised quote.

Useful For

  • Travelers setting a budget
  • Comparing quotes from several operators

Park and conservation fees

Tanzania's national parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area charge daily entry fees per person, plus fees for the vehicle and for staying inside the parks. These are set by the authorities and are a significant part of every safari.

Accommodation level

Camping, mid-range lodges, luxury tented camps and exclusive lodges differ greatly in price. This is usually the biggest single choice you make.

Season

Peak months, such as July to October and the Christmas period, cost more and sell out earlier. The green season often brings lower lodge rates.

Group size and private vs shared

Vehicle and guide costs are shared between the people in the vehicle, so the price per person usually falls as the group grows.

Flights

Flying between parks or to Zanzibar adds cost but saves time.
